A Right Royal Rocket

Another week, another sculpture!

It's been another busy week of commuting for Eden-Designs as I've been painting a rather large rocket sculpture for a public art trail in Leicester.

These sculptures really do seem to be getting bigger! At over 7ft tall and a meter wide, it was far too large to fit through my studio door so off I set, once again with my brushes and paints, for the long daily drive.

One small step for man, one giant leap for Leicester!

Rocket Round Leicester is a spectacular public art event brought to you by Wild in Art that will blast its way across the city for 10 weeks in the summer of 2021.

Leicester will be brought to life by giant and spectacular Rocket sculptures that will form a stunning, free art trail through the city’s streets and open spaces, bringing together the community for an unforgettable event. It's going to be out of this world!

The trail launches on Monday 19th July – before blasting off on Sunday 26th September 2021. After this, there will be the chance to say a final ‘goodbye’ at a Farewell Event, before each Rocket is auctioned to raise funds for LOROS Hospice.

Shhh It's a secret!

As usual, the sculptures are all strictly under wraps until the launch date but I can share that my design features one of Leicester's most notable historic figures and, at over 7ft tall, will be a royal jewel on the trail. It has been sponsored by Welcomm Communications Limited who are thrilled to be involved with the trail and have all sorts of exciting events planned to coincide with the launch this summer. The team popped down to meet me in the painting space last week to catch a glimpse of work in progress.
