I’m so excited to have been part of The Big Sleuth, a huge public art trail accross Birmingham this summer! I have been lucky enough to paint a total of four bears for the trail which launched on the 10th July and runs until 17th September.
Keep a look out for ‘Shakesbear’ on New Street, ‘Honeybear’ in Sutton Coldfield, ‘Boldmere Bear’ in Boldmere and ‘Bradley’s Bear’ in the Mailbox. Trail maps and an app can be found at The Big Sleuth and I am already enjoying viewing the bear selfies online. The trail will culminate in an auction during October which will see all bears sold off to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
I’m very proud to have finally finished Stanton Bridge Primary Schools Library. This was a huge project and really did turn into a labour of love, taking 6 long weeks to complete! It is totally unique and was something quite new for me to create and paint a 3D forest. I hope you’ll agree that the end result is quite magical!
I’ve put away my paintbrushes this week and had loads of fun working on my sewing machine instead. This little distraction was a project for Cromwell Infants School who asked me to create a series of children’s headdresses for their Chinese New Year celebrations. I had such a great time creating all the different animals, and I think my children would have loved to keep them!
Well after a mammoth project lasting over 2 months I’ve finally uploaded the photos from Percy Shurmer Schools early years corridor. This was a really fun mural to paint and I loved creating the bright, fun characters within a Literacy and Numeracy theme. It was really inspiring to see the children learning as they walked through the School.
I’ve just begun work on a huge project at Percy Shurmer Primary School in Birmingham where I shall be busily painting away until the start of the summer holidays. The mural, a giant garden of literacy and numeracy, will stretch the entire length of a 100ft corridor in the early years department.
